About
Who I am
My name is Mads, I’m from Denmark, and I’ve been in love with Formula 1 ever a dear friend introduced it to me seven years ago. Since then I slowly began reading into the technical details and ended up buying my first technical book about Formula 1. As my interest and understanding grew I started to dig into some of the data. I have a background in statistics and finance. All the analysis I did for myself, but in early 2026 it came to my mind just before the season began, maybe I should share it, and someone else will get use of it as well. So I created this space to share my thoughts and analysis.
Mission of Laptime
I believe the more you know about the peaky details about Formula 1, the more you are inclined to stay seated and watch a race from start to finish. Therefore the goal of Laptime is
- Deliver straightforward honest original analysis and introduce key concepts which are easy to read.
- Help new fans of formula 1 to understand key principles.
- Help the F1 community grow as a whole
The world of formula 1 data is big and complex and we do not gain access to all of it. The teams know way more than we do. This is important to always remember. Therefore the graphs, tables and stats will always contain some caveats. I will do my very best to be transparent about this. Help me if I aint.
Data and the use of AI
All the data you see on this site comes from FastF1, using python. In some cases other sources of data are included, I will make it clear when that is.
AI is a part of this world, you can’t get around it no more. At Laptime AI is solely being used as a review of grammar and spelling, and for the boring coding tasks. Everything else is human, the design, ideas, methodology concepts etc. without AI I would not have the resources to run all the things which has to be maintained around the website etc.
